7. Trunk Shows - Aquazzura

Trunk shows are events in which a representative of a brand brings select pieces of the collection to show to clients in stores and provide personal consultations. The whole experience is more intimate than say, attending a fashion show. The client (a buyer or customer) is able to feel the garment and personally assess the pieces. 

 One notable trunk show that caught my attention was the two day Aquazzura trunk show held at Saks Fifth Avenue in San Francisco and another one in Beverly Hills on Wednesday. Aquazzura is a luxury footwear brand founded by Edgardo Osorio.

So what I found interesting about this trunk show was that the designer himself has made an appearance on this West Coast trip. A long line of women holding the shoes waited patiently for Osorio to sketch "portraits," on the back of the shoes. 

I find that the designer attending such events is not only a mean of publicity but it gives the designer a better idea of what their target customer likes to wear, what they like to buy and the trends they're following. Osorio claims that meeting the client and chatting with them is significantly different and more important than the tools of social media. 

Overall, I find that it's great for someone such as a designer to host the trunk shows as they represent the brand's vision and talking to the customers or buyers gives them a good sense of whether they are marketed towards them well.
