It's needless to say the digital age has taken off and affected many factors of our lucrative industry. Fashion Week journeyed over to Europe and for London Fashion Week, the retailer Topshop decided to livestream their runway show on Periscope, which is a live video streaming app. They have collaborated with photographer Nick Knight to shoot and post the runway show in real time on Instagram and Persiscope.
The video feed offers a behind-the-scene look at the event, which took place at the Duveen Galleries of London's Tate Britain on February 21st. Take a look below.
Overall, I think this is a very smart way for Topshop to reach out to its digital savvy consumers, especially since of their young customers do not have access to attend the fashion show. I think that for Topshop to utilize social media channels as a marketing method, it is highly effective and demonstrates change and innovation. What do you think?
